Update (2026): This post describes Red Sift’s 2020 BIMI pilot. BIMI is now generally available, and the certificate landscape has changed since. Entrust exited the mark-certificate business in 2025, and VMCs and CMCs are now issued by DigiCert, Sectigo, GlobalSign, and SSL.com. Compare today’s VMC and CMC certificate requirements before choosing an issuer.
In July 2020, Red Sift joined the early BIMI pilot around Google’s planned support for the standard. BIMI is now generally available, making an eligible DNS-published logo available for participating mailbox providers to display on authenticated mail.
The pilot already required DMARC enforcement at p=quarantine or p=reject. Current BIMI eligibility also requires pct=100, or an omitted pct value that defaults to 100.
Red Sift worked with Entrust Datacard during the 2020 pilot on the VMC route available at that time. Entrust exited mark-certificate issuance in 2025. DigiCert, Sectigo, GlobalSign, and SSL.com are current issuers, and the certificate guide explains today’s VMC and CMC paths.
