Red Sift BIMI Maker is now available. Our new tool converts your logo into a BIMI-compliant SVG, checks whether it qualifies for a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) or Common Mark Certificate (CMC), packages the evidence a certificate authority needs, and files the application. Get started by searching or or uploading your logo today.

Around 50,000 domains publish a BIMI record. Fewer than 6,500 have a valid mark certificate behind it. Almost 87% of the organizations that got far enough to edit their DNS never got the logo they were editing it for, and the two things that stopped them are both fixable in software.

Key takeaways

  • Roughly 87% of domains publishing a BIMI record have no mark certificate behind it, so the logo never appears.
  • Common Mark Certificates (CMCs) qualify a logo on around 12 months of continuous use rather than a registered trademark, which opens BIMI to brands that were previously locked out.
  • BIMI Maker handles SVG conversion, eligibility checking, evidence packaging, and filing in one session, free to use.

The 87% who never finish

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) displays a verified brand logo next to authenticated email in Gmail, Apple Mail, and other major inboxes. Your customers see who sent the message before they open it. Two walls stop people getting there, and neither is about security.

The first is the file. BIMI requires a specific restricted SVG profile that most design tools will not export and most brand teams have never encountered. Your logo exists as a PNG in a shared drive. Turning it into a valid BIMI SVG is technical work with nothing to do with design, marketing, or email.

The second is proving the mark. Verified Mark Certificates (VMCs) require a registered trademark matching the logo currently in use. That test is designed to catch impersonators, and it does. It also catches brands who are not impersonating anyone. Councils, universities, and health bodies often have decades of public recognition and no registration, because there was never a commercial reason to file. Growing businesses have real logos and real customers but have not spent money on trademark registration yet. Large enterprises frequently filed years ago and then rebranded, so the record no longer matches the mark on their own homepage.

"Nobody sets out to spend three weeks learning about an SVG profile. They set out to get their logo in the inbox," said Rahul Powar, Co-founder and CEO at Red Sift. "The standard has been ready for years. The path to using it hasn't been. Most of the work between a brand's logo and an issued certificate is work software and modern AI should be doing, and CMCs mean the brands that were locked out by trademark rules now have a route in. That's a much bigger market than the few thousand domains showing a logo today."

The cost of stalling is not just a missing logo. Brand impersonation runs on recipients not knowing who sent a message, meaning anyone who impersonates you could inflict significant damage to your organization. In 2026, Business Email Compromise (BEC) attacks are estimated to reach $4.67 million to $4.89 million per incident, with FBI data showing median individual wire fraud requests around $50,000.

“The key to any adoption is ease, and BIMI maker is removing the hurdles that we often see senders struggle with,” said Nick Schafer, Director of Deliverability and Compliance at Sinch Mailgun. “Anything that makes it easier for senders to achieve BIMI compliance is a win for the industry"

From logo file to filed application

Red Sift BIMI Maker runs the full sequence in the browser. Checking a logo takes about a minute and costs nothing.

  1. Upload your logo or search your domain. Any common raster format works. PNG, JPG, whatever your brand folder holds or simply search your companies domain to generate a logo.
  2. Get a compliant SVG. BIMI Maker generates the correct SVG profile from your image, then lets you position and preview the mark exactly as an inbox will render it.
  3. Confirm your domain is ready. BIMI requires DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance) at p=quarantine or p=reject. BIMI Maker reads your current DMARC record and any existing BIMI record, so if you are still at p=none you find out before spending anything.
  4. Check whether your logo qualifies. BIMI Maker gathers continuous-use evidence from your website and public web archives, then reports where you stand on CMC eligibility.
  5. Get the evidence packaged. It assembles your domain, logo, evidence, and any exceptions into a submission built around what the certificate authority needs to see. Reducing the time to a CA being issued as the tools has already done the hard work.
  6. File the application. Payment and the DNS steps for deploying the issued certificate are part of the same flow.

BIMI Maker won't let you submit until you're actually ready. It checks your evidence against what the certificate authority requires, flags what's missing, and walks you through getting there, so by the time you apply, there's no guesswork left for the CA to resolve.

Three teams, three reasons to care

The value lands differently depending on where you sit.

  • Security teams get a readiness check that reads their actual DMARC posture, so BIMI stops being a separate project and becomes the next step after enforcement.
  • Brand and marketing teams get their logo rendered as the inbox will show it, without needing anyone to learn an SVG specification or file a trademark to make it happen.
  • Security and business leaders get a verified logo on outbound mail as a recognition signal customers can act on, at an annual certificate cost rather than a services engagement.
