Migrating to Red Sift OnDMARC
Sounds good, but I have a few questions …
How will these changes impact my organisation?

The changes to Mail Check reduce visibility into email security by removing critical reporting features like DMARC aggregate reporting (RUA), DMARC insights and TLS reporting, leaving organisations more vulnerable to phishing, spoofing, and misconfigurations.

How will I be able to identify sources failing DMARC authentication?

Forensic reporting delivers granular information about emails that failed DMARC authentication on the receiver side while protecting user privacy. In addition, by proactively monitoring DNS (the foundation that DMARC relies on) for forgotten domains and subdomains, we prevent email security attacks that bypass DMARC like SubdoMailing. Red Sift is the only provider on the market that can offer this protection.

I don't have time for the manual work of DMARC.

OnDMARC’s LLM-powered assistant leverages AI to cut down manual tasks and provide security teams with immediate, actionable insights. Real-time alerts quickly highlight misconfigurations, authentication issues, or unusual activity, allowing your team to respond instantly.

NCSC Mail Check changes FAQ

What changes has the NCSC announced regarding its Mail Check service?

The NCSC has announced changes to its Mail Check service, effective from 24th of March 2025. While Mail Check will continue to monitor DMARC policy strength, it will no longer provide detailed DMARC reporting and insights crucial for managing email security configurations and addressing vulnerabilities.

What does this mean for my organisation?

Without detailed DMARC reports, your ability to monitor, adjust, and optimise email security configurations will be significantly impacted. This may leave vulnerabilities unaddressed, increasing exposure to phishing, spoofing, and compliance risks. It will also limit your abilities in incident response and threat intelligence (i.e. identifying phishing attempts when they happen). The NCSC recommends that organisations choose an anti-spoofing management tool (like Red Sift OnDMARC) to ensure robust email security management.

How does Red Sift OnDMARC compare to Mail Check?

With Red Sift OnDMARC, users benefit from a like-for-like alternative to Mail Check that offers equivalent basic reporting capabilities with enhanced enrichment of data. In addition to also offering TLS reporting, Red Sift OnDMARC offers a one-click deployment of emerging requirements such as MTA-STS, to simplify policy hosting and management.

How is Red Sift different from other providers?

Red Sift is the only UK-headquartered and hosted DMARC vendor on GCloud 14. Red Sift has a proven track record of helping public sector organisations to achieve DMARC compliance. Our platform also integrates additional protocols like MTA-STS which prevents email tampering through man-in-the-middle attacks. Plus, with Ciaran Martin, NCSC Founder and former CEO, on our advisory board, we are uniquely aligned with NCSC guidance.

How much will this cost?

We are offering an extended free trial for organisations transitioning from Mail Check. This free trial is available until March 2025, ensuring you have ample time to adapt to the changes.

What are the benefits of acting now, and what happens if I don’t?

Failing to maintain DMARC compliance can lead to violations of frameworks such as the Cyber Assurance Framework (CAF) and leave domains vulnerable to phishing or spoofing attacks. For organisations in a DMARC “reject” policy, non-compliance may result in disruptions to business operations, including legitimate emails being blocked or misrouted.

How long does it take to switch to Red Sift?

Getting started with Red Sift is quick and straightforward. Most organisations can begin collecting data and viewing results in under a day with our expert support.

Is the NCSC deadline hard or flexible?

The 24th of March 2025 deadline is firm. Organisations relying on Mail Check for detailed reporting must transition to an alternative solution by this date to maintain compliance and visibility.

I’m not sure if I qualify for the free trial. How can I check?

If your organisation is affected by the NCSC’s Mail Check changes, you will qualify for our free trial. Contact us to confirm your eligibility and get started.
